Store documents in your own Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or S3
Store documents in your own Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, AWS S3 bucket or S3-compatible service, and ScanPix writes the pages you add on the web straight into your account: the original, the preview and the thumbnail. Or keep the default and let ScanPix store everything for you. Your storage or ours, and you can change your mind later.

Your files should live where you decide
Most document apps put your files in their own cloud and nowhere else. That is fine until your accountant, your IT policy or a large customer asks where the originals are kept, or until you want to leave. If your business already pays for Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft 365 or an S3 bucket, a second copy of every bill and agreement in someone else's storage is one more thing to explain.
"Where are the originals?"
Customers, auditors and your own policy may require business records to sit in storage the business controls.
Paying for storage twice
You already have Drive, Dropbox or a bucket. Another vendor’s storage plan is duplicate cost and a duplicate copy.
Hard to leave
When every file lives only inside an app, moving on means a long export and a lot of hoping nothing was missed.
Supported providers
Choose one destination for new uploads in Settings, under Storage. Your personal space and a team can each use their own connection.
Google Drive
Files go to an authorised ScanPix folder in your Drive. ScanPix works only with the files it creates there, not with the rest of your Drive.
Dropbox
Files go to a least-privilege Dropbox App Folder. ScanPix cannot open anything outside that folder.
OneDrive
Files go to an app folder in your OneDrive, connected with your Microsoft account. The rest of your OneDrive stays out of reach.
Your own AWS S3 bucket
Connect a scoped IAM role and the bucket you choose, with your own KMS key if you use one. The setup screen explains where to find each value.
S3-compatible storage
MinIO, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi, Backblaze B2 and other services that speak the S3 API, using an access key limited to one bucket.
Own server or NAS, on request
Want files on a server in your own office? Tell us what you run from the Storage settings and we will work it out with you. This one is not self-serve. Ask about your server →
Set it up in three steps
Open Storage settings
On the ScanPix web app, go to Settings, then Storage, and pick the provider you want for new uploads.
Connect your account
For Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive, approve access in the provider’s own sign-in window. For S3, paste the bucket details; the form tells you where each value lives.
Check and switch on
ScanPix tests that it can write to the destination before you turn it on. From then on, new pages you add on the web go to your account.

What ScanPix can and cannot see
Connecting your own storage changes where the files live. It does not make ScanPix blind, and we would rather say so plainly. ScanPix still keeps each document’s record: its name, folder, the fields you fill in, who it is shared with, and a small thumbnail so your lists load and you can still browse when your account is offline. When you open a page, ScanPix fetches it from your account to show it to you. For Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive the file passes through ScanPix on its way to your screen. For S3, your browser gets a short-lived link straight to your bucket. What ScanPix cannot see is everything else in your storage. One limit today: searching by the words inside a page is not yet available for pages kept in your own storage.
- Original, preview and thumbnail are written to your account, not kept by ScanPix.
- ScanPix keeps the document record and one small thumbnail.
- Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive access is limited to ScanPix’s own folder.
- If your account is unreachable, ScanPix says so instead of showing an error or a blank page.
Works with the rest of ScanPix
Storage is the foundation. Everything else in the workspace keeps working on top of it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I store ScanPix documents in my own Google Drive?
Yes. Connect Google Drive under Settings, then Storage, and new pages you add on the web are written to a ScanPix folder in your Drive: the original, the preview and the thumbnail. ScanPix keeps the document record and one small thumbnail so your lists still load.
Which storage providers does ScanPix support?
Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, your own AWS S3 bucket and S3-compatible services such as MinIO, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi and Backblaze B2. ScanPix’s own storage is the default. An own server or NAS is available on request rather than self-serve.
Does this apply to pages I capture in the mobile apps?
Not yet. Today, pages you add from the ScanPix web app go to your connected storage. Pages captured in the iOS and Android apps are still stored in ScanPix storage. Both kinds sit side by side in the same workspace.
What happens if my Drive or bucket is unavailable?
Your document lists still show, because ScanPix keeps a small thumbnail. If you open a page whose file lives in an account that is disconnected or unreachable, ScanPix tells you to reconnect that account instead of failing silently.
Can I switch providers later?
Yes. Switching changes where new pages go. Documents saved to your earlier account stay readable from there as long as that account is still connected and reachable. You can also switch back to ScanPix storage for future uploads.
Can I leave ScanPix and keep my files?
Yes. Files written to your own storage are already in your account, as files you control. For everything else, you can export your documents from ScanPix at any time, and delete your data when you choose.
Does ScanPix read my files when they are in my storage?
Only when it needs to show them to you or someone you shared them with. For Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive, a page you open passes through ScanPix on its way to your screen. ScanPix cannot see the rest of your Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, and never sells or mines your data.
